Obedience is our way of loving God back. Today, while driving to class on a stop-and-go road, I was reminded of the impact of disobedience.
I stopped at the stop-and-go section, and when the light turned green and I started moving forward, a bakkie came from the opposite direction. I quickly stopped and shrugged my shoulders, wondering who on earth did not listen. Did the driver take a chance and drive when he shouldn’t have, or did the two ladies at the boom misinterpret the “not yet” as “open the gate”?
Either way, whoever did not obey the rules ended up causing consequences. I thank God that I did stop and that I did not get hurt, but I am reminded that disobedience has an effect not just on you, but on others as well.
When we delay obedience, that is also a sign of disobedience. God loves us so much, and the way we love Him back is by being obedient.
Let us Shema today – listen and obey!
