About the CEO
Colourful, eccentric and dramatic. These are but a few words to describe the CEO of ButtonUp, Maryka Roux aka Ryka Roux. No stranger to the stage, Ryka has written and performed stories since the early age of 5, which was also the age when she gave her heart to Jesus. A natural born drama queen, Ryka did all kinds of performances ranging from plays, singing, orating, public speaking and even hula-hoop competitions.
Speaking is her passion and in 2017 she clearly heard the Holy Spirit telling her to do motivational speaking. With a joyful spirit, a lot of energy and an action-filled attitude, Ryka Roux started with ButtonUp. Ever since then, she has been preaching, speaking and singing all over South Africa.
Ryka was born in Pretoria but grew up in the East Rand. After matriculating, Ryka studied Visual Communication at the University of Pretoria, obtaining an Honours Degree in Visual Communication (Cum Laude). Her passion for visual studies and drama collided and she obtained a Master’s degree in Drama and Film (Cum Laude) in 2016. She began lecturing in 2011 and went into full time ministry in June 2020.
Whilst running ButtonUp and a visual communications company (Visualswork) as well as giving drama classes, painting, writing, singing and acting bring her great joy, Ryka’s biggest passion is Jesus! Loving God, loving people and giving Him glory with her talents and gifts is her main goal.
